Process Shots of the Week
So, I made these necklaces out of enameled electroforms strung on thread that was covered in glue and then covered in dirt. That's right. I made necklaces out of dirt.
Here's the latest incarnation of the shadow box. I'm making it my goal/challenge to change this every week.
More pics of these and others on my flickr site soon.

Quote of the Week
"What you have to know is that Marla is still alive. Marla's philosophy of life, she told me, is that she can die at any moment. The tragedy of her life is that she doesn't."

Things I didn't buy on Etsy
From variousandsundry
From 1AEON
From luckybunnyworldwide
From phippsart
So, I had to buy a birthday gift this week, and I decided I wanted a sweet T-shirt from etsy. Well after much searching and deliberation, here are some of the shirts I didn't buy.
I can't post the one I did get, or it would ruin someone's birthday surprise.

Process Shot of the Week
Sorry these pics are so bad. So I bought this shadow box frame at Plaza the other day and yesterday I started sticking stuff in the little boxes (ok, yeah, I know how that sounds) I'm note sure where I'm going with this yet, but this deffinatly isn't it. This is more like a sketch.
I made prints of these and now I am enameling them. I don't know what I'm going to do with them after that.

Observation
I'm pretty sure the people in my geology class think I'm a witch. They'll probably push me in a stream next week to see if I float.
Locker Loot
See what happens when you don't clean out your locker in a timely manner? That's right kiddos! Intrepid grad students cut off the lock and split the goods inside!
For the record, we only went through the printmaking lockers, students had a week to email us their locker number, and another week to claim their stuff. Also bear in mind, this is only MY haul from the locker clean out. After salvaging anything that could be used in the print studio (including two large rubber bottomed steel mixing bowls that went in the litho cabinet) the other GA and I split the rest between the two of us. Oh, and I also scored some printmaking paper.

Most People. . .
Most people I know don't have "dissected used teabags" on their list of things they did today.
I gotta go do my geology homework now.

Rank Update
So the first ranking of the September Competition over at Zuda came out today and Middle-Aged Monster (see below) is currently in 3rd. Please, please go vote for it. If my brother wins a Zuda contract, I maybe won't post about Zuda so much.

Middle-Aged Monster
So, the best web comic you're currently not reading is The Night Owls. But Middle-Aged Monster, the latest and greatest Zuda entry by Steve Steiner COULD be the best web comic you're not reading if you go and vote for it!
And in case you're not sure what Zuda is, here's my previous post.

Process Shot of the Week
So, I made this really great fossil texture on these and was electroforming them and all was going fine until about the last 12 hours they were in the bath. I guess I had the voltage up too high for a little too long and got nodule city. Either that, or I've always had these type of nodules and they just never bothered me before. I decided it would be quicker to remake the waxes, than it would be to file all those off.
But never fear, I do have a use for these. I feel like my color scheme is changing (expanding?) by about $143 worth of enamel. So these will be great to test out new rock mixes, plus the fancy new enamel my friend Jess gave me!

Post
I can't think of anything to post right now except that I have geology class in an hour. It's been a really long time since I've been in a geology class. Over 2 years. I took Petrology in Spring of 06. I'm taking Topics in Environmental Geology, and all I know so far is that it's very applied, will include some field work and is 3 hours long, two nights a week.
The only other thing I can think of to post at this moment is this quote by the late, great comedian, Mitch Hedberg:
"Ahhhhh, f*ck! I thought I looked that rock!"
