More Art!!!

Here's a few more pieces I've recently acquired:
This is a brooch I traded for from Laura Wood's Tangled and Twisted series, which was part of her thesis. Laura and I are also trading for some custom work. She's making me a silver and abacca paper brooch and I'm working on a necklace for her. One of my favorite things about grad school has been the opportunity to get to know Laura and watch her work evolve. I'm so lucky to own so much of her work!


Laura and I even collaborated with the third member of our MFA trio, Marissa Saneholtz to make a set of Wonder Triplet Power Rings! Each one of us made a separate part of the rings: Marissa made the bands, I made the enamels and Laura made the settings. A little funky, a little outer spacish, we each have a reminder of our grad school awesomeness.


This ring was given to me as a graduation gift by a dear friend. I've been eyeing Charity Hall's work since I lost her piece to Linda Darty at Bob's scholarship auction in the fall. I found this ring at Emerge Gallery and immediately fell in love with it. It was such a pleasant surprise when if was gifted to me! It's a painted enamel Southern Green Stink Bug. I love the detailing on the ring band.

As I said before, I've got more trades in the works, so stay turned for more great art!

Busy Busy!

Well, we never quit here at ECU! This week several of us grads installed work in the Burrough's Welcome Gallery. Unfortunately, we couldn't book the gallery for the Symposium, but since we had it this week we decided to use it! It's a really informal grouping of works by Jeniffer Wells, Abigail Heuss (top photo), Kat Cole (middle photo), Marissa Saneholtz, Laura Wood and myself. Brushes from Bob's workshop are also on display.
My piece is titled "50 Days of String". It's bits of found string stitched onto Denril. It's a bit different from my usual work, but there is something that I really enjoy about it. You can see more pics of my piece "50 Days of String" here.

Holiday Trades!

Well, as most of you know, it's that special time of the year where posting becomes a bit sparse. That's right, FINALS!!!! Our last day of classes is tomorrow, and finals begin on Thursday. Everyone is busy, busy, busy. Also, last week was the ECU Holiday Sale. It was pretty great. All the guilds get together and set up in the Gray Gallery (the school's main gallery), so you can shop from everyone at the same time and place! There was tons of great stuff the the Metals Guild made a nice amount of money.

I purchased this great shirt from the Printmaking Guild. It was my only purchase, but I did do some FANTASTIC trades! I got a brooch, which I've been absolutly coveting from fellow metals grad Laura Wood. These pictures don't do it justice at all. I also got a great scarf from fibers grad Amanda Micheletto. It is also prettier than it's picture. It's a lovely sapphire blue merino wool scarf with machine stitching in red.
