I gave my presentation for seminar this morning on deceptive surfaces, or enamel that doesn't look like enamel. I found some great artists and some great work and I thought I would share it here.
wow. the valeta vancza ones are amazing. never would've picked those for enamel. out of curiosity, was this to jewelry folks or art in general? i think that jewelers have a much broader view of enamel so am curious....
Just a small group of jewelry grads, a couple of which do very traditional enameling, a couple who are more experimental, and a few which don't enamel at all. I'll probably soup it up a bit and present it to the Enam. II class here in the fall.
The Veleta Vancza ones are cool, not only because they glow in the dark, but because they're also on cast iron, which I find intriguing.
I hold a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Kent State University and an MFA in Metal Design from East Carolina University. In 2012, I curated the international, juried exhibition "Hot Under the Collar" and was the Artist Fellow in Fine Metals at Peters Valley Craft Center. I currently teach adjunct at Craven Community College in New Bern, NC.
